UTAP, or the Union Training Assistance Programme, is a scheme in Singapore that provides training support for workers to upgrade their skills and enhance their employability. Here are the steps to apply for UTAP funding:

  1. Find a training course or programme that you would like to attend from the list of approved UTAP training providers.
  2. Check your eligibility for UTAP funding. You must be a union member, and your course or programme must be relevant to your job, contribute to your professional development, and be conducted by an approved training provider.
  3. Apply for the course or programme through the training provider.
  4. Attend the course or programme and pay for the course fee upfront.
  5. Submit your UTAP claim within 6 months after the course or programme end date. You can apply for up to 50% of the course fee, capped at $250 per year.
  6. Wait for the approval of your UTAP claim. This process usually takes up to 6 to 8 weeks.
  7. If your claim is approved, you will receive a reimbursement for the amount approved. The reimbursement will be credited directly to your bank account.

Note that there are specific UTAP eligibility criteria and terms and conditions that you need to meet. You can find more information about UTAP on the NTUC website or by contacting the NTUC membership hotline.

The courses listed under SkillsFuture Credit and UTAP can be claimed for both SkillsFuture credit and UTAP.

You may claim the remaining amount from UTAP (up to 50% of the unfunded course charge), provided you haven’t used all of your SkillsFuture Credit to cover your course fees. Please take note that UTAP claims can only be made after you have attended the course, whereas SkillsFuture Credit claims must be made before the course even begins.
